Deep within the mystical halls of the Lookout, hidden behind ornate, ancient doors, lies a place where time bends and reality twists: the Pendulum Room. The air inside hums with an almost imperceptible energy, heavy with the weight of countless possibilities. This sacred chamber isn’t grand or imposing at first glance. Instead, its simplicity is deceptive, masking the sheer power it holds within.
In the centre of the room stands an ancient pendulum, swaying rhythmically, its polished metallic surface glinting faintly under the dim light. The pendulum’s movement seems ordinary at first, but upon closer inspection, it becomes apparent that it doesn’t adhere to the usual rules of physics. It arcs gracefully yet ominously, as if slicing through the very fabric of time and space with each swing.
The floor beneath it is smooth and reflective, resembling a dark, endless void that absorbs the light around it. Intricate, glowing runes are etched into the walls, pulsating softly in rhythm with the pendulum's motion. They’re indecipherable to most, ancient symbols of a long-forgotten language, hinting at the room’s connection to the cosmos.
The Pendulum Room’s true power lies in its ability to transport the mind and spirit. With a touch of the Guardian’s divine guidance, the room can project its occupants into the past, the future, or alternate realities. It’s a place for warriors to confront their fears, test their limits, and learn from the echoes of history. For those brave enough to step inside, the boundaries of existence blur. Enemies long since gone can rise again, and battles from another age can be relived with startling realism.
The atmosphere in the room shifts depending on the scenario conjured. In one moment, it might transform into a sun-scorched wasteland, with the cries of ancient warriors echoing across the dunes. In the next, a tranquil forest may appear, masking the impending clash of titans hidden within its shadows. Yet no matter how vivid the scenes, the Pendulum Room always leaves its visitors with an unnerving awareness that none of it, yet all of it, is real.
For warriors long since passed, the Pendulum Room is both a sanctuary and a crucible. It is here they have faced phantoms of their past and glimpsed the overwhelming power of future adversaries. The room doesn’t promise answers or victory, but it offers the chance to grow, to prepare, and to reflect. And for those who seek to protect the universe, that chance is more than enough.
It was to this room that the Guardian of Earth, Dende, lead his newest protege, Liek. The young man feeling the weight of the both the history, and the mystery, that filled this room, the majesty weighing heavy upon his shoulders. Looking around the youth, asked, “What is this place, Master?”
“This, young Liek, is the Pendulum Room. And it is here that you will be training when not learning directly from me.” The emerald skinned elder replied with a wave of his staff, “My duties as the Guardian restrict the amount of time I can train you myself. And, this room has an additional benefit; it can teach you lessons no amount of sparring can hope to do.”
It seemed strange to the young man but he nodded all the same, “I… can’t say I understand. But you are the teacher here.” He replied with uncertainty, earning a smirk from the Namekian.
Gesturing to the circle in the middle of the room the old man instructed, “Stand in there.” Liek didn’t hesitate to heed the command and stepped into the middle of the circle under the swinging pendulum, “Now, close your eyes…” Once again, Liek followed the instruction. Dende nodded before speaking once more, “When you open your eyes once more you will not be in this room… you will be in the distant past. Face the challenge you find there, only then can you return!”
To Liek, as his instructor spoke it was as if his voice faded little by little with each word, until he was straining to hear at the end. And then, all sound faded and he felt like he was in a great void, not a sound reaching him, not even the sensation of gravity was present. And then, just as suddenly he was snapped back to reality.
